Met Mast Installed

20th December 2024

The Goombi Renewable Energy Hub project team has successfully installed the first meteorological (met) mast for the project, marking a step forward in its development. Crews from mast supplier and contractor ART were deployed to site in December to assemble the structure over a period of 2 weeks. Now operational, wind monitoring equipment is fixed to the structure at varying heights to gather important wind data, including wind speed, direction and variability. This data will be used to inform the layout and placement of wind turbine, in addition to community feedback, environmental constraints, and other considerations.

The met mast is 120m tall and constructed out of metal lattice sections, supported by guy wires. It will stay in place for at least 24 months whilst it collects wind data.
